How I Carried 2 Dozen Bottles of Aquaguard Bottles to Dubai
Let me let you in on a secret; apart from sterilizing water, Aquaguard has so many other fantastic uses. Fantastic enough for me to carry 2 doz bottles to Dubai. Read on to find out what they are and discover this undocumented secret!
For housewives or anyone dealing with cleaning, the discovery of the season is Aquaguard.
Can you believe it? The last time I used water sterilizer was once I went to an internship to Garissa, on a mission. We had to use it to sterilize water from the well for drinking, cooking
The other time was when my daughter was born and we had to sterilise her bottles and utensils, and we used water guard.
Then comes my discovery. On going home on holiday, one of my ‘sisters’, my many sisters apart from my mother’s daughters, tells us that… no, she didn’t even tell us, I see her soaking the kid’s clothes with Aquaguard… I was like, “Why are you using water steriliser for clothes?”
She was like, “Hee… don’t you know? We have discovered…” She does some cleaning work, so she’s an authority on this…
I was like, “What? What?” I had to see this for myself.
Cleaning Stubborn Stains
You can imagine my son, the boy, very active boy, goes out to play outdoors, comes back with muddy clothes that I never had an idea on how they were going to get clean.
My sister, soaks clothes before washing, not even overnight, just prior to washing; and the Aquaguard eases out the dirt. So, when she has to wash, she’s not even scrubbing much.
“I was like, what? What? Where has this been all my life?” What a discovery.
So, I carried 2 dozen bottles to Dubai, as we said – my son.
Fast Colours
Then, better still, for clothes that have fast colour, you can use Aquaguard to clean stains and it doesn’t burn colours out like bleach. To begin with, I am recommending that Aquaguard starts a side business for detergents. That was a great discovery for me.
Wash Whites
In addition, when we put bleach in whites, sometimes the stubborn stains (even when we put bleach) need a soak and scrub. My hubby’s work shirts are brilliant white. When we take them for dry cleaning, they return with the collar and cuffs still dirty. Even a washing machine doesn’t do a direct scrub around the collar and cuffs. For this reason, we just add this Aquaguard plus detergent and do a normal wash cycle. The laundry comes out fully clean. Which means, what Aquaguard does is loosen the stain for detergent to do its cleaning.
Even for our kids’ uniform, the shirts and blouses have a coloured logo. Meaning we can’t use bleach so as to retain the original colour. Instead we use Aquaguard with the wash. Before discovering Aquaguard, we had to soak whites and stubborn stained clothes first. Plus, scrub for a little while so that the washing machine cycle can give fully cleaned result. The same goes for the hand washed clothes, it makes the scrubbing easier and effortless. As a result, their uniform is as new.
That discovery went on. It doesn’t end there
Cleaning Kitchen Countertops
Our kitchen counters have a light 威而鋼
beige colour. So, all we need to do is use some soap and Aquaguard on our counter tops and our surface is as clean as new. If you also have porous counter surfaces that allow stains to infiltrate, this works as such a good solution for us. The same goes for bathroom countertops.
Cleaning Stained Chopping Board
When our white chopping boards stain or get discolouration from food such us meat, carrots, turmeric among others, it’s time for Aquaguard magic. We put a little soap, drops of Aquaguard and water in a tray then immerse the chopping board fully. We leave to soak for about 5 hrs or better still, overnight if you don’t need the chopping board for the day. Later, once rinsed you can see that it’s totally stain-free.
Cleaning Other Stained Kitchen Utensils
Even for our tea sieves, tea jug, carrot grater, white or light coloured porcelain and ceramic cups or plates that might stain, due to spices, tea or usage overtime, soaking in Aquaguard clears it in jiffy.
Vinegar does the same for utensils but not to the same degree of cleanliness or clearing stains. With vinegar you still need to scrub, and yet some stains may remain.
Cleaning Fruits & Vegetables
There are people who use fruit or vegetable soap, we don’t. If we did, this is what I would us but not concentrated. The one from the shop is pretty high end, expensive and not as available.
Sterilising Baby Utensils
Like we did with my daughter when she was a baby, instead of boiling her utensils, we cleaned her equipment and utensils with warm water, soap and a separate/dedicated sponge. We then soaked them in water with sterilizer for a while. Thereafter, we wiped them with a separate/dedicated tea cloth and stored them in an airtight container. We’d agreed to buying a sterilizer because we’d have had to do multiple sessions as they are usually not that big. Plus, it saved us some shillings.
The great thing with Aquaguard, unlike bleach, is that it is made for drinking water, so it doesn’t have a lingering taste after washes. When we used bleach before, we had to stop using the jug and sieve because the tea used to taste of bleach. It’s meant for drinking, it’s just that we are using the concentrated version for cleaning.
Further to this, I used to wonder, what does this do to people when they drink it if we can use it for cleaning with such effects? To begin with, I am glad it does what it says because there is no way it will not kill germs, if this is how it’s treating stubborn stains.
In addition, we don’t drink the concentrated Aquaguard. We must follow the instructions given; 3.5ml into 20l of tap and rainwater and 7ml into 20l of well or river water; then let settle for 30mins before use. Make sure to use it right.
Lastly, I am glad there is Aquaguard because we need water for life.
We are lucky that when in higher concentration it makes our cleaning life much, much easier, more efficient and less expensive. That’s my 2 dozen bottles of Aquaguard story. That is my best discovery ever. I hope it keeps going. It has made our lives easier at a very low cost. You should see how we nurse and guard them like precious gold!
